How to choose an air conditioner for an apartment
Room size is only the beginning. Here are the questions to ask before buying.
Start with your space
Note the floor area, ceiling height, window orientation and size, and occupancy. These help a specialist assess the heat load. Room area alone provides only preliminary guidance.
Understand the two power figures
Cooling capacity describes how much heat the system can remove. Power input describes its electrical load. Check both figures in the model’s documentation.
Compare measurement conditions
Noise levels should be compared at the same operating mode and measurement distance. Wi-Fi may be built in or require a separately purchased accessory.
Plan the installation
Discuss unit positions, pipe length, condensate drainage and service access before buying. Equipment and installation costs should be listed separately.
